Flagler Landing is our first project of the COVID19 era. As society finds a new rhythm with new boundaries, there has arisen a profound need for architecture to respond to this new world. Our team is answering the call to respond to this challenge by applying our unique urban planning perspective to think on a broader scale and redefine the way we use design to meet these new needs.

Flagler Landing signals a social shift towards finding a new balance between personal privacy, protection, and a need for social connection. We propose solutions here to safely allow you to see and take in the world around us. Sensitive to COVID19 concerns, we have dramatically expanded walkability in this project for not only an enhanced pedestrian experience, but also to help facilitate safe social distancing. We have also incorporated extensive use of glass as well as high ceilings to let in more light and combat the isolation and confinement that can come with long-term distancing. We have also brought more of the natural world in with a design that calls for increased landscaping as well as mitigating excessive industrial features with concealed parking. We are also responding to increased sensitivities to rigid design plans with more flexibility and mixed-use options, including distanced and segmented retail, restaurants, residential spaces.

Beyond the pandemic, and on a more localized scale, this project also shows the forward shift of the community around Flagler Road towards a higher, brighter, and greener quality of life with more open spaces. This design anticipates its’ growing socio-economic importance as a bridge between the regional South Florida anchors of Downtown Miami and the Miami International Airport. With Flagler Landing we are raising the standards of what is to be expected in the region and the need to expand beyond functionality toward a better quality of life for residents.

Design is a powerful tool that can help us connect. Our team has always used architecture, regional planning, and interior design as vehicles to capture higher ideals, create community, and spark growth and change – now we are using it as one tool in the belt of solutions to help guide to our collective post-pandemic future, and make us all stronger and safer when it arrives.
